Daily Ummat ■ Heavy rain that occurred in Sindangkerta Village, Pagelaran District, Cianjur Regency caused a 20 meter high cliff to collapse on Friday (11/20/2020) at around 15:00 WIB.
Based on information collected in the field, it is known that the collapse of the cliff caused two motorists who were passing on Jalan Raya Sukanagara - Pegelaran to be buried by landslides.
Secretary of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Cianjur Regency Mochamad Irfan Sopyan explained that the collapse of the cliff due to heavy rain, precisely on Jalan Cadas Hideung, resulted in two people buried in landslide materials.
According to Irfan, the victim who was known to have died was named Bayu (27) from Cibinong District.
Meanwhile, continued Irfan, the survivor named Danda (19) came from Sukanagara District.
"It is possible that there are still buried victims, we are still conducting search efforts," he said.
Meanwhile, at the location of the incident, officers from the Public Works (PU) Office of West Java Province are currently carrying out efforts to clean up the remaining landslide material using heavy equipment.
